The RTK Network
Real Time Kinematics
Real Time Kinematics (RTK) is a technique used with GPS and other satellite navigation systems to improve positioning accuracy. Instead of just relying on satellite signals, RTK uses correction data from a nearby fixed base station (or a network of them) to correct errors in real time. This allows a receiver, like one on a machine, drone, or survey instrument, to know its location down to 10-20mm , instead of a few metres.
High-Precision RTK Powered by GEODNET
VFM licenses grant users access to high-precision RTK correction services powered by GEODNET’s global, decentralised network of base stations. These base stations continuously collect multi-band GNSS signals from multiple satellite constellations (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou), which are then processed and streamed to end-users. Through industry-standard RTCM 3.2 messages delivered over the NTRIP protocol, devices such as survey equipment, drones, agricultural machinery, and construction plant can apply real-time corrections to their positioning data.
This reduces errors caused by atmospheric interference and satellite drift, enabling millimetre level accuracy instead of the centimetre level accuracy typical of standalone GPS. The GEODNET network is continuously monitored, with redundancy and validation measures in place to ensure the reliability, integrity, and security of the correction data, making it a robust and scalable solution for precision applications across industries.

Why Choose VFM for High-Precision RTK?
VFM stands out by providing unmatched precision, flexibility, and accessibility. Powered by GEODNET’s globally decentralised network of geodetic-grade, multi-constellation base stations, VFM delivers 10-20mm horizontal and 20-30mm vertical accuracy with sub-second latency via standard RTCM 3.2 over NTRIP, all while supporting thousands of simultaneous users.
Unlike traditional RTK systems that rely on a single local base station, VFM’s network offers global coverage, built-in redundancy, and automatic base assignment, making setup remarkably simple and scalable. The service is also notably cost-effective and transparent, offering flexible monthly or annual licensing, plus customisable plans for larger deployments and even the potential provision of a free local base station under certain terms.
With 24/7 monitoring, multi-constellation support (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou), extensive documentation, and responsive technical assistance, VFM ensures high reliability, security, and ease of integration across diverse industries, from civil construction, surveying and agriculture to robotics and utilities.
